I am a writer/farmer/college
professor living in Western Massachusetts (link for resume below).
I have extensive experience in journalism and public relations
and have worked for the United States Senate, as well as several
colleges abroad.
While attending New
York University, I studied with Galway Kinnell, the Pulitzer Prize-winning
poet, and E.L. Doctorow, author of Ragtime (the book, the play
and the film). In 1984, I was awarded an M.A. in English (Creative

From 1984 to 1994,
I lived in England. In 1984, I won an International Rotarian scholarship
and in 1986 was awarded an M.A. in Modern English and American
Literature from the University of Leicester, Leicester, England.
I was then appointed Research Fellow at Darlington College of
Technology, Darlington, County Durham. From 1989 to 1994, I lectured
in English and Communications at Nottingham Trent University and
Clarendon College Nottingham. In 1992, I won the Co-Op Poetry
Prize, Manchester, England, for my poem "Jane"
Upon my return to the
United States in 1994, I established Writing and Editing Services.
I specialize in writing articles for magazines and newspapers,
as well as electronic websites. I also write and produce radio
documentaries, several of which have aired on All Things Considered
for National Public Radio.
It was in England where
I became addicted to one of my passions--Border Collies. I regularly
compete in herding events and agility trials with my British Border
Collies Rocky and Jess, and my new puppy Kit. They share their
home at Haywood Hall Farm with several mixed-breed dogs and cats,
sheep, ducks and horses.
